Cider with Evans

Bushell + Peck cider

This Gloucestershire based cider maker have only been making cider for 10 years but boy do they produce some beauties. A small but balanced range of traditional west country ciders with more modern lighter Eastern styles as well as a handful of single variety. Well worth getting a mixed case from them.

Fresh + Crisp

Medium Dry

Eastern Counties style.

Very light golden, almost straw coloured, clear and sparkling but with no head

Decent nose, crisp fresh apples with an ever so slight hint of pear

Quite a dry minerally start with a sharp citrussy taste up front. Quite a bit of tannin for a medium cider but there's a good depth of pulpy flavour to balance it out. Refreshing lingering aftertaste

Not a bad little cider all round. Feels a bit tannic and dry for a medium dry but I may be nit-picking as it's a nice drop if you like your ciders with tannin and sharpness.

Smooth + Subtle Perry

Medium Dry

Pale golden, clear and sparkling leaving a nice foam round the edge of the glass

Very powerful, slightly tart nose with a very strong perry pear aroma

Oh lovely. Very deep, smooth buttery perry flavour with a bit of citric sharpness which balances the deep slightly woody flavour perfectly. That citric aftertaste really fills the mouth and back of the throat during the aftertaste.

I really like this one. How can it be described as smooth and subtle I don't know as I find it right in your face. I'll have to get another bottle to see if it's a mis label, but whatever it is it's well worth a try.

Rich + mellow

Medium Dry

Copper red, clear & sparkling

Huge fruity nose with a touch of wood

Very nice. Fruity start with a big hit of barrel oak and a touch of farmyard. After the initial hit it mellows quickly to a full of fruit but touch of tannin middle and a lovely juicy aftertaste

Another cracker. Lots of flavour so you could drink this with the strongest flavoured food but I’d be happy to drink several stand alone

Slow + Easy

Medium

Copper golden clear and slightly sparkling.

Deep rich smooth nose with caramel and a touch of sherry

Nice. A big apple flavour up front with a slight fizz in the mouth. It has a deep complex flavour which is hard to describe really. Bit of oak in there, but of burnt caramel, all combined with a slightly acidic eating apple. Very long lingering aftertaste which is very refreshing.

A beauty I must say. Slow and easy purely because of the strength. This is a lovely easy to drink cider which would be lovely and refreshing on a summer evening, but has enough flavour to pair with lightly flavoured foods like an Italian.
